Gina's Designs Craft Group January challenge

For this layout I used the monthly moodboard at Gina's Designs Craft Group for my inspiration.
I used red and black chalk inks directly on the chipboard to tone down the colors.

You have until January 31st to enter this month's challenge!

Valentine Storage Box

Hi scrappy friends!
Today I'm sharing a 14 x 14 lid of a cardboard box I use to store all of my Valentine papers and embellishments. I wanted a decorated box using the colors of my scrap area, black, white, and red.  I wanted something fun and used Gina's chipboard shapes to embellish the box.

I basically made a layout on the top of the lid, and then covered the sides with black gesso and paper.

I used many different techniques to alter the chipboard. Most of the pieces were primed with gesso.
I used red and black ink on several of the pieces. The lovebirds were heat embossed with clear
embossing powder, before adding some red ink. The page frame was painted with crackle paint, and
heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Please stop by Gina's Designs store and see the all of the new shapes that have just been added!
Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Winter Cabin Shadowbox - Gina's Designs and The Robins Nest

Hi everyone! It's Donna!
Today I am sharing Gina's Cabin in the Woods Shadowbox! This month we are promoting The Robins Nest, and we received these beautiful "winter collection" papers. Once I saw the blue and white papers,  I knew I wanted to due a shabby cabin shadowbox!
The Shadowbox is very easy to assemble, the pieces fit together nicely!
I cut the papers to fit along the top of the back piece, and each section of the shadow box and glued them down. I painted the rest of the pieces with white crackle paint.

After assembling the shadow box I used Aleene's snow in the cubbies, on the cabin, trees, and on the top of the shadowbox. I added feet to the box so there would be additional height for the lace on the bottom.
I added Gina's chipboard snowflakes, painted with white gesso,  layered with punched snowflakes using The Robins Nest papers. The coffe mug in the bottom left corner  is one of Ginas chipboard shapes. I painted it with white gesso, white paint, and then glossy accents. The fireplace comes with the Shadowbox. I simply painted with white crackle paint.
I used white gesso on the two deer, and the word "Dream", and covered them with chunky glitter glass while still wet.

And then the fun part, finding additional items for the cubbies that fit your theme!
This was a really fun project!

Vintage Skating layout - Ginas Designs

Happy 2015!!!!
So glad to see you stopped by my blog today.
There are some new things coming to Ginas store I know you are going to love!
I used one of Gina's new frame designs for this layout.

I painted the frame with white gesso and let it dry. I used a brown distress paint dabber and covered the frame, leaving a bit of gesso showing through. While the brown paint was still wet, I sprinkled on some embossing powder around the edge of the frame, and heat embossed it. I like the vintage feel and it goes so well with the photo!

I used white gesso on the birds on the branch and then painted them. I had fun painting the birds! Gina has quite a few bird shape sets that are really cute.

I used the same steps as the frame on the title.
